Virginia Deer Classic  |  Turkey Calling Contest

Virginia Deer Classic
Sponsored by Swedish Match

This is your chance to see the biggest bucks harvested in Virginia. Organized by the Virginia Deer Hunters Association (VDHA). Deer hunters throughout Virginia will bring their mounts to this prestigious contest. Certified judges from the VDHA and Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries will be awarding ribbons and trophies in four antler classes. Citations will also be given by VDHA.

Classes are as follows:
6 points and below, 7 & 8 points, 9, 10, & 11 points, and 12 points and above.

Divisions are:
Gun, bow and youth 17 and under, muzzle loading, and women, typical and non-typical in each class. Hunters must have a certified VA Game Check Card or their confirmation number from the Game Department’s Telephone Checking System in order to enter a deer in the contest. In addition there is a Historical Division that includes any deer taken from a previous season in Virginia. All of the classes listed above will be represented in the Historical Division. With this division you do not need a game check card. Instead the honor system will be used for entry. Pope and Young and Boone and Crockett officials will be available for assistance with the judging.

We will begin taking entries on the Friday of the show from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will continue on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the deadline at 5 p.m. on Saturday. There will be no exceptions after this time. All entries will be returned on Sunday at 5 p.m. and awards will be given in the seminar area starting at 5 p.m. There is a $25 entry fee, which will make you a VDHA member and will allow you to enter the show all three days.
