85th ANNUAL VPSA VIRGINIA BIG GAME CONTEST

The Virginia Peninsula Sportsmen’s Association (VPSA) and the Virginia Outdoor Sportsman Show will collaborate in August 2024 to produce Virginia’s only and oldest Deer, Bear, and Turkey judging contest. The contest has been sanctioned by the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources (DWR) and will take place August 2 - 3 at the Meadow Event Park, Doswell, VA.

Kip is a native to central Virginia growing up on the banks of the James River. In 2003 he joined up with Chad to form Shotfish Productions Inc. and began filming the pilot episode of Red Arrow. Today, the Red Arrow crew hunts all over the world but Kip still returns to his home in central Virginia. Meet Tim Andrus host of Rush Outdoors TV on Pursuit Channel

Tim Andrus began his career with Realtree Outdoors in 1996 where he began his travels around the country and was soon filmed harvesting whitetails for the prestigious Monster Buck DVD Series. He then started speaking at many national engagements for sporting expos and outdoor shows. Finally, he joined Rush Outdoors TV where he is now releasing the 11th season of the show on the Pursuit channel. Tim has hunted in over 20 states and 5 Canadian Provinces chasing whitetail, mule, deer, bear, waterfowl, and turkey using bow, rifle and muzzleloader. With a true passion for the outdoors, he states that he is a huge fan of, “do-it-yourself hunting trips in the west and Midwest. Where it’s like a challenge to go one on one on their turf.”

Hunters Education Class

Saturday, August 3, 2024

FREE! Registration Required! 

This is the basic hunter education program required for new hunters in Virginia. It is being held in conjunction with the Virginia Outdoorman Show at the Meadow Event Park.

Lunch will be provided.
Students are required to obtain a study manual (available on the DWR website) and complete the review section at the end of the manual. The completed review questions must be turned in on the day of the class.
